OT Security Engineer
OT Security Engineer
OT Security Engineer
About the Job
At Shieldworkz, we don’t just protect infrastructure, we engineer it to be resilient from the inside out. As an OT Security Engineer, you’ll play a frontline role in safeguarding industrial environments against real-world cyber threats. From configuring hardened devices in power plants to deploying anomaly detection tools on factory floors, your work will have direct, measurable impact on mission-critical systems. This is your chance to apply hands-on skills in cybersecurity, networking, and industrial protocols to protect the systems that keep industries, and economies, running.
Role Description
As an OT Security Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
Implementing, configuring, and maintaining security controls in OT environments, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and secure remote access solutions.
Performing site assessments, asset inventories, and baseline configurations of ICS/SCADA systems.
Supporting network segmentation, access control design, and protocol filtering for industrial systems.
Deploying and tuning industrial cybersecurity tools such as anomaly detection platforms, network taps, and log aggregation tools.
Collaborating with security architects and field engineers to support secure integration of new and legacy equipment.
Troubleshooting real-time issues in industrial networks and contributing to root cause analysis.
Documenting security configurations, system changes, and incident responses in accordance with industry standards.
Participating in vulnerability assessments, patch management processes, and compliance reviews (e.g., NIST CSF, ISA/IEC 62443).
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a hands-on technologist who understands how OT systems operate, and how to protect them. Someone who thrives in the field, on the factory floor, or in the control room, not just behind a desk. If you get excited about air-gapped networks, protocol decoders, and protecting real-world systems from cyber threats, this is your opportunity.
Ideal Qualifications:
2–5 years of experience working in OT/ICS environments with exposure to control systems, industrial networks, or security technologies.
Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, BACnet), and their security implications.
Experience with network tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and industrial IDS (e.g., Nozomi, Dragos, or Claroty).
Solid understanding of control system components (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA servers) and their operational constraints.
Comfortable working in live operational environments, with strong attention to safety and availability.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including defense-in-depth, least privilege, and secure patching.
Relevant certifications a plus (GICSP, CompTIA Security+, CCNA, ISA/IEC 62443).
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, from engineers to security analysts.
