OT Security Architect
OT Security Architect
OT Security Architect
About the Job
This is more than an architecture role, it’s a chance to define how industrial systems defend themselves in an era of unprecedented cyber risk. At Shieldworkz, you won’t just secure infrastructure, you’ll help shape the blueprint for how factories, energy grids, pipelines, and transit systems stay resilient in the face of evolving threats. You’ll work closely with asset owners, integrators, and internal teams to design secure, scalable, and standards-compliant OT environments. If you're passionate about building robust security from the ground up and thrive at the intersection of operations and cybersecurity, this is your role.
Role Description
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
Designing and validating secure architecture frameworks for ICS/SCADA networks across critical infrastructure sectors.
Conducting risk assessments, threat modeling, and architectural reviews for OT systems, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigations.
Advising clients on best practices in network segmentation, zone/conduit models, and secure remote access.
Collaborating with engineering, SOC, and IT/OT convergence teams to integrate security controls into system design and operations.
Developing architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical reports aligned with frameworks such as ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST CSF.
Participating in incident response planning, red/blue team simulations, and architecture-level resiliency analysis.
Mentoring internal teams and clients on secure design principles and the evolving threat landscape in industrial environments.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a technical leader who understands what’s really at stake when control systems are compromised, someone who doesn’t just know best practices but helps define them. You’re equal parts strategist, builder, and defender.
Ideal Qualifications:
2–5 years of experience designing or securing ICS/OT environments, ideally in sectors like power, oil & gas, water, transportation, or manufacturing.
Deep understanding of ICS protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA), network architectures (layered defenses, DMZs), and ICS components (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs).
Proficiency in OT security standards and frameworks: ISA/IEC 62443, NIST 800-82, NERC CIP, or MITRE ATT&CK for ICS.
Hands-on experience with firewalls, industrial IDS/IPS, secure remote access tools, and anomaly detection systems.
Strong diagramming and documentation skills (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) and ability to present complex ideas clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Relevant certifications are a plus: GICSP, GRID, CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert.
Passion for operational resilience, adversary mindset, and continuous improvement.
